About the accreditation
The Data Protection Commission (DPC) is the independent body that administers Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). The Act governs how personal data is collected, used, stored and shared, and requires data controllers and processors to register with the Commission.
Act 843 sets out core principles for processing personal data — lawful basis and consent, purpose limitation, accuracy, security safeguards and respect for the rights of data subjects. Being registered and compliant means an organisation is accountable for upholding these obligations.

How GDS Africa applies this
GDS Africa handles personal data in the course of serving customers — contact details, project information and, in some engagements, data within the systems we manage. We process that data in line with Act 843.
In practice we work to a lawful basis, limit use to the purpose it was collected for, apply security safeguards to protect it, and honour the rights of the individuals it concerns.
